Worldwide Korean Co. selects Louisiana site to Drill for Natural Gas
On Wednesday, drilling operations continue at well site Edmee Mestayer et al #1 in Iberia parish, just off Darnell Road, east on Hwy 86. Directional drilling is now at a depth of 7,600 feet. General Manager D.S. Choi and DNR Secretary Scott Angelle will meet onsite to discuss the operations and will see the activity firsthand.
New Permitting Online System Starts November 1
The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Coastal Management Division will hold training sessions on how to use the agency’s new automated permit processing system during the months of November and December. Coastal officials had been working many months toward this concluding step in streamlining the Coastal Use Permit (CUP) process in the state.
October Lease Sales Announced by Mineral Board
The State Mineral Board conducted its monthly Lease Sale on October 12, 2005, at 10 a.m. in the Conservation and Mineral Resources Hearing Room located in the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge.

The State Mineral Board conducted its monthly lease sale on Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at 10 a.m. in the Conservation and Mineral Resources Hearing Room located in the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge.
Angelle reports on department’s call to action since Katrina
State DNR Secretary Scott Angelle made available today this report on the department’s performance in accessing and evaluating impacts and damages as a consequence from Hurricane Katrina. “I have seen some of the disruption, some of the damage to our coast, but it is just still too early to gauge realistic impacts to our resources from Katrina,” Angelle said. Angelle was able to fly-over some of the impacted coastal areas struck by Katrina, several days ago, but then was called to report to the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee in the nation’s Capitol on September 7th.
