Solar Permitting (Act 279)
The Department of Conservation and Energy (C&E) is providing general guidance on the implementation of Act 279 of 2025, which establishes permitting requirements for large-scale solar facilities in Louisiana.
For facilities with a footprint of 75 acres or greater that are in operation, under construction, or being constructed on or before January 1, 2026:
Please review the Guidance Memorandum, Act 279 Immediate Solar Permits for detailed information.
• Application submissions for an Immediate Solar Permit must include:
- Solar Facility Owner/Operator Registration Form
- Application for Immediate Solar Permit
• Facility Design and/or Parish Permit (See application for details)
• Submit completed applications to DCE-Renewables@la.gov.
For facilities with a footprint of 75 acres or greater that begin constructed after January 1, 2026:
Please review the Guidance Memorandum, Act 279 Solar Siting Permits for detailed information.
• Application submissions for a Solar Siting Permit must include:
- Solar Facility Owner/Operator Registration Form
- Application for Solar Siting Permit
• Facility Design and/or Parish Permit (See application for details)
• Landscape Plan or Parish Resolution (See application for details)
• Submit applications to DCE-Renewables@la.gov.
