Gulf Operations Safety Rule Deadline Approaching
Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Secretary Scott Angelle today reminded energy exploration and production operators active in the federal Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) waters of the Gulf of Mexico that a Nov. 15 deadline for meeting new federal rules formalizing and standardizing safety practices is fast approaching – and that they should move quickly to comply and assess and correct weaknesses in their programs and documentation.

Members of the state’s Oilfield Site Restoration Commission received fiscal year-end reports last Thursday, on projects in six parishes where orphaned wells have been closed through the Oilfield Site Restoration Program (OSRP). The commission meets quarterly in Baton Rouge at the La. Department of Natural Resources’ Office of Conservation.
